Epoxy Floor Paint Tips
Having problems deciding on what paint to use in your garage floor? You may consider using epoxy floor paint. It really is easy to apply and provides a nice shiny coat on your floor allowing you to easily clean the floor and increase the overall look of your garage. Don't worry if your floor has a previous coating whether the coating is peeling off, fading or stained. Because most epoxy floor paint is designed to top other sealants or paints, provided that they are clean and free of other contaminants. Epoxy paints are fairly thick so it's not necessary to match colors.
Epoxy floor paints can take a minimum of 3 hours to apply including preparations which can be compared to other solutions but is more permanent. This estimate is for a normal size garage if their larger than expect the process to be longer than usual.
Before you can apply the epoxy garage floor coating the paint kit should be prepared according to the manufacturers instructions. This applies to brand new floors as well. It serves no purpose in applying down a new layer of paint on a concrete that wasn't properly prepared since the finished product won't last too long or will have a bad finish.
If your concrete is new additional conditions should be met. You can tell if the concrete is new based on its color. If its color is dark then it's brand new. Most garage coats require at least 30 days from the time you laid it before you put down the paint although it will vary. If you want to be sure, try to contact the contractor that laid the floor. If you can't find the contractor just wait for thirty days from the first time you saw the floor.
The floor must be prepped and cleaned it doesn't matter what is on top of it. But if you're not entirely confident in your skills in applying the epoxy paint on your garage floors you can always hire professionals to do the work for you. It would cost you more but it definitely save you time and money if things didn't go as planned.
Prepping your floor for epoxy garage flooring can be a hassle but if done correctly it can be one of the most efficient solutions you can apply on your floors. The finish will look superb just follow the manufacturers detail or your contractors instructions for achieving the best results.
