Refinishing Your Garage Floor
There is a place in most homes where the floors get stained very quickly, but more often than not, it is overlooked. Most of us spend a lot of time cleaning and caring for our living room carpets and kitchen floors, that we often neglect our garage floors. It's common to find a garage floor covered with paint stains, oil spots, grease and other such elements. However, there are some commonly used ways to protect this floor with a garage floor coating. A coating will not only protect and improve the look of your garage, but it can also add more value to the rest of the home. There is a simple method in applying these coatings and it takes a relatively short time to do it, too.
Three of the most popular garage floor coatings available on the market are epoxy, polyurethane and latex. Epoxy is a paint which is applied on the concrete of the garage floor. An epoxy coated floor can be cleaned easily as the paint withstands various elements that generally stain the floor. Epoxy is considered to be one of the most attractive coatings and is available in a broad variety of colors. Granitex coatings have a finish that give you the appearance and texture of stone.

Applying a latex coat is similar to applying an epoxy one. You need to apply a primer first, followed by a finishing coat. After it's dry, the coating will protect the floor from stains, as well as from damage caused by certain weather conditions.
A polyurethane finish gives a high shine and protects your floor from all sorts of stains and elements. However, applying it is slightly more difficult. This coating should only be applied after using a primer on the floor. Polyurethane coatings are generally more expensive than other types of floor coatings.
A number of people often combine epoxies and polyurethane to give an even greater garage floor covering. Using a polyurethane coat after applying an epoxy paint coat is a sure way of giving a beautiful and well-protected floor for many years
Remember, it's important that your floor is thoroughly cleaned before you apply this coating. This will give you the best finish result, regardless of which product you decide to use.
